The Gaza International Women’s Film Festival, headed by its founder and president Dr. Ezzedeen Shallah, has announced the screenplays selected for the first edition of the festival. A total of 37 screenplays were submitted, including 8 feature-length screenplays and 29 short screenplays from 11 countries: Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Jordan, Iraq, Tunisia, the United States, the Sultanate of Oman, and Palestine.
Dr. Shallah stated that the screenplay jury, chaired by renowned Palestinian filmmaker Najwa Najjar and composed of Egyptian screenwriter Zeinab Aziz, Syrian actor Taysir Idris, Jordanian-Palestinian screenwriter Iman Al-Saeed, and Palestinian screenwriter Khaled Khamash, is still in the process of reading and evaluating the submitted works. He confirmed that the winning screenplays will be announced during the closing ceremony of the festival, which will take place from October 26–31, 2025.

The Gaza International Women’s Film Festival aims to support creative screenwriting and encourage cinematic works that address Palestinian issues and women’s stories, while fostering cultural dialogue and artistic exchange among filmmakers from around the world.
